What some England fans are now chanting about Phil Foden ahead of Serbia clash

A section of England fans were heard singing a chant about Phil Foden ahead of their side’s clash against Serbia on Sunday.

Foden is exactly the type of player any country’s support would be looking to set Euro 2024 alight; fearless, creative, entertaining and most importantly, impactful.

Especially considering English supporters have witnessed Manchester City’s number 47 light up proceedings at club level last season — winning the Premier League Player of the Season award. The 24-year-old has the chance to cement his name as a world-class player on the global stage.

Some England fans debut Phil Foden chant

While it can be argued that European club football is the sport at its best, the prestige and pressure that comes with the international level is one-of-a-kind.

The Three Lions’ players will be all too familiar with such feelings — heading into every major tournament as the talk of the town.

As Gareth Southgate’s side are set to lock horns against Serbia, some England fans belted out a chant for Foden.

In a video that has emerged via talkSPORT, the supporters were heard chanting, “Can’t start a fire, can’t start a fire without a spark, Phil Foden’s on fire…he’ll be playing the Germans off the park.”

Phil Foden could become a real fan favourite at Euro 2024

It seems like in every major tournament, one English player unanimously becomes his country’s favourite player as they rise to the occasion.

At the Qatar World Cup, it was Jude Bellingham, who emerged as England’s best player.

During Euro 2020, it was Raheem Sterling.

If Foden steps up to the plate for England, it could well be him as the fans already seem to adore him.

The treble-winner certainly has all the talent and the match-winning ability in the world to spearhead his nation to glory.

For Manchester City, Foden has showcased on various occasions that he is a man who revels when all eyes are on him and at Euro 2024, he has the chance to prove the same is the case when he dons an England shirt.

The silky technician’s chant could be heard across the world, especially if he puts the ball in the back of the net at the tournament.
