Arteta just saw 'magic' Arsenal target who'd rival Saka prove he can be a 'menace' at Euro 2024

One Arsenal transfer target has already impressed at Euro 2024 and could be the ideal solution to provide competition for Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be keeping a close eye on goings on at Euro 2024.

Eleven Arsenal players are taking part in the international tournament, as well as a number of stars that the club have been credited with an interest in signing.

Bukayo Saka is set to start for England in their tournament opener against Serbia on Sunday evening, having passed a fitness test. However, many supporters of the North London club will be concerned about the lack of rest the winger is ever afforded.

He plays practically every minute for the Gunners when fit and is a key figure in Gareth Southgate’s plans too. What’s more, Arsenal lack adequate cover and competition for him in their squad.

Arteta must bring in a player in this summer transfer window who can compete for minutes with Saka and also deputise for him when the 22-year-old is in need of a rest.

Italy star Federico Chiesa could be the ideal candidate to take up that vacancy at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will be watching Federico Chiesa at Euro 2024

Chiesa has already made a fine start to his Euro 2024 campaign, as he was instrumental to Italy’s 2-1 win over Albania on Saturday.

Whilst the 26-year-old did not get not the scoresheet himself, he was a persistent threat, always looking to make things happen in the final third and aggressive in his attacking actions.

The Juventus star also impressed the media with his display. Goal rated his performance as an 8/10, describing him as an “absolute menace” to the Albanian defence, and claiming that he has recaptured the “magic” he produced at Euro 2020, when Italy won the competition.

Arsenal fans were also impressed by the performance Jorginho put in in this victory.

Mikel Arteta must push to sign Chiesa

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Chiesa in the past, and he served up a reminder yesterday of what he can do and what he would bring to Arteta’s side.

Not only would the 48-cap Italy international provide valuable cover for Saka, but he can also play on the left flank and in a more central role, making him an option in the left-eight midfield position for the Gunners.
