Manchester United have an abundance of talent coursing through their academy ranks, that are set to be the next wave of players set to take Old Trafford by storm.
The proof is in the pudding, Erik ten Hag has put monumental faith in youth during his reign as Manchester United manager – and has been rewarded.
His young talents Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have been two of the standout performers as of late.
This is only set to continue under the Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos-led era at Old Trafford. They want to keep the emphasis on embracing youth and putting trust in them for the future. The United way.
This is why it’s so exciting to see more academy talent, blossoming, and being brought in to develop. This includes the latest recruit, Silva Mexes – who has just shared something simply astounding on his social media.
Silva Mexes shares ridiculous 100m time
Mexes, 14, signed for the Red Devils at the end of May 2024 and looks to be a promising academy talent.
He was hot on the radar for United for some time, but the son of former Premier League star Robert Earnshaw made the deal permanent only recently. He has since featured in some friendly matches for the Red Devils youth sides, where he impressed with his ‘Neymar-like‘ trickery.
One of his finest assets looks to be his blistering pace. This is confirmed by his most recent Instagram story, which depicts the forward completing a 100m sprint in a remarkable 11.1 seconds. That is crazy for a 14-year-old.
Silva Mexes not much slower than Usain Bolt
Usain Bolt’s world record for the 100 meters is 9.58 seconds. Mexes’ time at his age is just 1.52 seconds slower. That is nothing short of insane.
It appears Manchester United have a proper athlete on their hands. If his footballing ability matches his athleticism, it’s simply breathtaking what Mexes could achieve.
It’ll be interesting to see him integrated into the academy setup fully next season, and we hopefully can’t wait to watch Mexes go from strength to strength for the Red Devils.
