The company have said it will need to close the road between its junctions with Granary and Walnut Close, temporarily.

As a result, a signed diversion route will be in place via Maidstone Road, Commercial Road and Church Road.

In response, disgruntled residents have shared their dissatisfaction with the news online, with one person saying “It always seems closed these days”.

Many others also echoed the same sentiment, by commenting “not again”.

However, SGN says it needed to wait until warmer weather to finish the work at a time where there would be less demand on the gas network.

One person told KentOnline: “The road closure won’t impact me directly but the main road will be heavily impacted in rush hour, as will Green Lane.”

Bradley Barlow, spokesman for gas distribution company SGN said: “We’ve previously completed the majority of our gas mains replacement work in Warrington Road, Paddock Wood.

“However, we’re returning on Monday 1 July for approximately four weeks to carry out our final works here.

“As we are going to be tying into the district governor, we needed to wait until the summer/warmer weather before we could return so that there is less demand on our gas network.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience our work may cause and thank the local community for their patience.”

While SGN says the gas works will last for four weeks and advanced closure notice put on Warrington Road advises residents it will be shut for approximately five weeks.
