Arsenal fans can't stop talking about Granit Xhaka after Switzerland beat Hungary at Euro 2024

Arsenal fans had a lot to say about Granit Xhaka after his performance for Switzerland against Hungary at Euro 2024.

Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka produced a man of the match display for Switzerland as they beat Hungary 3-1 in their first game of Euro 2024 on Saturday.

The 31-year-old was an orchestrator for the Swiss side, dictating the pace of the game and launching attacking moves from the middle of the park.

Xhaka has clearly been able to carry his impressive domestic form into this competition, as he was exceptional for Bayer Leverkusen as they won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal without losing a single match in either competition.

He was a key figure for Xabi Alonso’s side, having only joined the club last summer, when he left Arsenal after seven seasons in North London.

Xhaka’s Arsenal career was up and down to say the least, as at times he came under fire from the media and clashed with fans. Ultimately, though, his time with the club ended on a high and he departed as a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium.

Xhaka’s last season at Arsenal was by far his most impressive, as Mikel Arteta unleashed him in a more advanced role than ever before. The player repaid the manager’s faith by delivering a return of nine goals and seven assists, across all competitions.

Xhaka remains supportive of Arsenal, and many fans of the North London club are now willing him to enjoy more success on the international stage this summer.
