2 Florida Teens Arrested For Dangerous TikTok “Door Kick Challenge”

Suspects In Door Kick Challenge (HCSO)

SPRING HILL, Fla. – Two 15-year-old boys from Spring Hill are facing burglary charges after they admitted to kicking in the doors of multiple homes in the area as part of a dangerous TikTok trend called the "Door Kick Challenge."

Over the past two weeks, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) received four reports of unknown individuals kicking in doors at residences in the early morning hours. Surveillance footage from some of the homes captured the teens in the act.

The two suspects, Brody Abdon and Gavyn Trapp, live within walking distance of the targeted homes, were apprehended and questioned by the HCSO.

They confessed to kicking in the doors as part of the TikTok challenge, which involves individuals recording themselves kicking in doors and posting the videos online.

"This is an exceptionally dangerous trend," said Sheriff Al Nienhuis. "Not only is it causing damage to property, but it's also putting homeowners and residents at risk. We're fortunate that no one was injured in these incidents."

The teens have been charged with multiple counts of burglary of a dwelling and are currently in custody. The HCSO is urging parents to talk to their children about the dangers of participating in viral challenges, especially those that involve illegal or dangerous activities.

"Social media can be a fun and engaging way for teens to connect with others, but it's important for them to understand the potential consequences of their actions," said Sheriff Nienhuis. "We encourage parents to be aware of what their children are doing online and to talk to them about the importance of making responsible choices."

The HCSO is also reminding residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.pen_sparktunesharemore_vert
