Jim Schlossnagle explains how difficult it was to stay loose during delay in Omaha

After a lengthy weather delay on Saturday evening, Texas A&M bested Florida, 3-2, to move into the winners bracket at the Men’s College World Series in Omaha. And the Aggies and Gators didn’t get going until after 11 p.m. EST.

But staying loose wasn’t an issue for the victorious Texas A&M side. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle explained after the win that it’s part of the sport and players know how to handle it, plus the facilities at Charles Schwab Field make it easy.

“No recipe. Baseball players are used to that,” Schlossnagle said. “Happens all the time. Luckily in Rosenblatt you wouldn’t have had a place to go. You would have been hanging out in the dugout or going back to the hotel or going to the bus. I remember those days. Luckily now, you have an awesome clubhouse and space and batting cages. Baseball players are used to that, and this ballpark is so great. Both teams had plenty of space to stay loose.”

Whatever Texas A&M was doing during the four-plus-hour delay, it paid off as the Aggies plated three runs in the first three innings to take a lead they would not relinquish, even after the Florida bats finally woke up in the 7th inning.

Now the loose and victorious Aggies are on to face SEC foe Kentucky in a matchup of the winners of their respective side of the bracket in Omaha
