Ravi Shankar Prasad hails 'Prerna Sthal' in Parliament premises, says "Matter of pride"

New Delhi [India], June 16 (ANI): BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday said that 'Prerna Sthal' established in the Parliament premises is a matter of pride.

"It is a matter of pride that 'Prerna Sthal' is being established in the Parliament premises. The 'Prerna Sthal' is being built to inspire the coming generations by installing statues and photographs of those great patriots who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country," Prasad said.

BJP leader Jagdambika Pal said that the Prerna Sthal in Parliament complex premises will allow visitors to learn about the culture and the sacrifices made by by our eminent personalities who fought for the independence of India.

"The Prerna Sthal in the premises of the Parliament complex, is appreciable work by the Lok Sabha Secretariat...The visitors here will know about the culture & the people who laid down their lives," Pal told ANI.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Prerna Sthal is a great work of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

"On behalf of the government, I would like to congratulate the Lok Sabha Speaker and the entire Lok Sabha secretariat. Prerna Sthal has been built with such a good idea. Otherwise, many MPs do not even know that statues of so many great souls are installed here. Even the MPs did not have full information...This is a great work of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. I thank the respected Lok Sabha Speaker on behalf of the government, all the members, the Parliament and all the employees," Rijiju said.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the future generation can get inspired by 'Prerna Sthal' and see all the great leaders together.

"Today, Vice President and 17th Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated 'Prerna Sthal'. Even the future generation can get inspired by this place and see all the great leaders together...those people who will come to visit Parliament, for them QR codes will be available to scan and know in detail about the lives of these great leaders," Meghwal said.

BJP MP and party's national spokesperson, Sudhanshu Trivedi, termed the Prerna Sthal a place of inspiration.

"Parliament is the temple of democracy. This is the place where the feelings, hopes and aspirations of the people come together and the system of the nation is run on their basis. But the system is also inspired by some values and those values are derived from the lives of those great men who have made several important contributions to this nation from time to time, through their ideas, through their sacrifices...I feel that this is a place of inspiration," he said.

Vice President of India and Chairman, of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the newly constructed Prerna Sthal in front of Building Gate No 7 of the Samvidhan Sadan, in the presence of outgoing Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha Harivansh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday. Members of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha also remained present on the occasion.

After the unveiling of the commemorative stone slab, the dignitaries offered floral tributes at the statues installed at Prerna Sthal.

"Earlier, during an interaction with media persons, Birla said that statues of 15 leaders and great freedom fighters are installed inside the Parliament House Complex who have made important contributions to the history, culture and freedom struggle of the nation. Noting that these statues were located at different places within the Parliament House Complex, he mentioned that it was difficult for the visitors to see all the statues," as per a press release from the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

"Birla said that many visitors did not even know where these statues stood in the Parliament House Complex. He said that the main objective of the construction of Prerna Sthal is that these statues within the Parliament complex should be installed at one place on a beautiful and picturesque lawn. That is why it was decided to create a designated spot to ensure that the visitors could come and pay their respect to these great leaders," as per the release. (ANI)
