Aston Villa ‘agree personal terms’ with £10k-a-week ‘menace’ as Douglas Luiz swap update emerges

Aston Villa are closing in on their first deal of the summer transfer window, with one target now said to have agreed personal terms.

Unai Emery and Monchi have got to work fast this summer, as Aston Villa look to aid their PSR concerns.

Douglas Luiz is expected to leave the club to relieve financial pressures, with Samuel Iling-Junior and Weston McKennie involved in the proposed swap deal.

This week, it was reported that the deal had slowed down due to the two players involved; however, a breakthrough seems to have been made.

Samuel Iling-Junior agrees personal terms with Aston Villa as part of Douglas Luiz transfer swap

News in Italy had relayed that Iling-Junior was waiting to be convinced that he would earn sufficient game time at Villa although, such hurdle has now been cleared.

Journalist Nicolo Schira has since reported that the Englishman has ‘agreed personal terms’ with Villa over a long term contract.

It’s added that the Chelsea academy graduate is ‘ready to leave’ Juve, with a transfer to Villa now moving closer as the quest to offload Luiz continues.

Earning a reported £10k-a-week in Turin, via Capology, the winger’s hold-up was football related, while McKennie is claimed to be hopeful of securing a worthy wage.

Iling-Junior is an exciting capture for Unai Emery

Once lauded as a ‘constant menace’ by scout Antonio Mango, Iling-Junior could certainly offer Emery something that makes the swap deal easier to process.

As expected, many will be sad to see Luiz go, who has been an integral part of the manager’s rise at Villa Park, leaving a significant void to fill.

Acquiring Iling-Junior as part of the transfer is promising for Villa, particularly now that the club have learned that the forward wants a move.

There are many elements that point to Iling-Junior’s proposed move to Villa as being a success, as the 20-year-old prepares to return to his homeland.

Journalist Jacob Tanswell outlined one area of encouragement surrounding the deal on the 1874 podcast, where he backed Emery to develop the player similarly to how he improved Morgan Rogers.

“I like Iling-Junior, Villa were looking for that wide player with a bit of balance other than Leon Bailey, he will do that, he’s very young, he’s talented, English, I think he can be sculpted into how Emery wants, similar to Morgan Rogers.”

With personal terms now said to be agreed, it could be a case of a waiting game until the deal becomes official, in what could prove to be a smart transaction for the Villans.
