Biden adviser in Israel, as strikes on Gaza continue amid Eid

Deadly Israeli airstrikes targeted several locations throughout Gaza overnight and early on Monday killing Palestinians, as Muslims mark the second day of the Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha.

At least three people, including a woman and an elderly man, were killed early on Monday and others were seriously injured following Israeli bombing in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood in Gaza City, the Palestinian Wafa agency said citing health sources in Gaza.

Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli airstrikes in the Al-Zarqa neighbourhood north of Gaza City, while strikes were also heard the Nuseirat camp and Deir Al-Balah.

Eid al-Adha celebrations were subdued in the enclave with Israel's military campaign still ongoing, while food insecurity levels reaching a new high and hopes of a ceasefire diminish.

A senior adviser to US President Joe Biden, Amos Hochstein, will travel to Israel on Monday for meetings to avoid further escalation between Israel and Hezbollah, a White House official says.

Hochstein will reportedly advance efforts to avoid further escalation along the "Blue Line" between Israel and Lebanon, the official said, according to Reuters.
