WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Our annual State Of The U series continues. We break down a big picture look at where Miami stands in the college football landscape. There’s also our analysis of how Year 3 for a coach can be a flashpoint of success, so the pressure’s on for Mario Cristobal to start bringing results. So be sure to check those analysis features out.

With the Miami recruiting class breakdowns in the rear view mirror, we also figured it’s helpful to look at Cristobal’s last two classes at Oregon and how those panned out vs. what happened at UM under Manny Diaz in those years.

There’s also our continuing analysis of the top 50 roster players, giving insight onto this team’s talent level and depth. Check out our closer look at No. 15 Dylan Joyce, No. 14 Mark Fletcher and we had a tie at No. 13 between Tyler Baron and Mishael Powell.

The CaneSport staff also got together for its latest roundtable, this time breaking down if Damien Martinez breaks 1,000 yards … and perhaps pushes for the school record.

In recruiting?

Plenty more coverage there as it was another big official visit weekend. We have your updates with the guys that were in Coral Gables, so don’t miss where things stand with all of them.

There were other recruiting updates, too. We catch up with Cecilia (La.) 2027 wide receiver Braylon Calais, who landed an offer at Legends Camp and shares his thoughts. And 2026 QB Dereon Coleman earned a long-awaited offer after showing out at Sunday’s Mario Cristobal Camp – we catch up with him.

The Hurricanes received unofficiaal visits this weekend from a pair of 2026 tight ends — Kaden Prothro and Evcan Jacobson. We will profile both today….

Plus Samford guard transfer AJ Staton-McCray shares his thoughts on becoming a Hurricanes and more. So don’t miss that, either.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

10 wins should happen … Posted by advarkas

Most places I see have The U o/u wins at either 9.0 or 9.5. Frankly, with this roster, schedule, and QB now, anything less than 10-2 will feel like a disappointment. But I say that now, in June – a lot can happen in 3-6 months with injuries, etc… But this team is clearly set up to make a huge run this year. Beating Florida out of the gate on the road and setting the tone early is paramount, even though it is not an ACC game – it just has massive momentum implications for the season, especially since Florida is in a precarious position with the Rashada drama, and Napier on the hot seat, and the Gators having the hardest college football schedule I’ve seen in years.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The plan is basically just come in ready to work, to compete for a starting job. That’s something I’d love to do.”
