Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the official dissolution of the military cabinet, which was established on October 11 of last year to manage campaigns against Hamas and Hezbollah, citing The Times of Israel.

The decision was made following the resignation of Minister Benny Gantz. Subsequently, former Chief of General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces Gadi Eizenkot (observer) and Knesset member Chili Tropper (minister without portfolio) left the interim government.

The coalition's collapse was anticipated, as far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir had been lobbying for inclusion in the forum.

Netanyahu is expected to make key decisions regarding the war in small, special meetings without Ben-Gvir, with final approval requiring the broader security cabinet's consent.

War in Israel

The war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023, with massive rocket attacks on the Gaza Strip by armed groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, the entry of armed forces into Gaza, and the taking of hostages.

In response, Israel launched massive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and, late on October 27, deployed large forces into the northern part of Gaza. Currently, Israeli forces are operating in Rafah, a city on the border with Egypt in southern Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces recently announced that they would implement daily local tactical pauses in their military operations in the Gaza Strip.

The West is calling on Israel to halt military actions in Gaza, but Tel Aviv is not agreeing. Recently, the IDF attacked a Hamas militant complex located inside a school in the central Gaza Strip.
