Pixar's 'Inside Out 2' HIts $295M World Record Opening

Pixar's new release, "Inside Out 2" exceeded expectations with a $155 million domestic opening over Father's Day weekend.

Surpassing the expected $90 million, its debut became the second-biggest animated launch ever for a three-day weekend.

The sequel made history overseas, opening to a record $140 million, bringing the global total to $295 million, marking the biggest opening ever for an animated film.

"Inside Out 2'" is just what Pixar needed after several challenging years, which included three Pixar films being sent straight to streaming under previous leadership, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Internationally, the film opened in 60% of the marketplace this weekend and broke records across Latin America with the second-biggest opening ever, earning $30.2 million in Mexico alone.

The film also did well in Europe and Asia, raking in $14.9 million from South Korea and $13.9 million in the U.K.,

"Inside Out 2" holds a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes, an A CinemaScore, and boasts a Pixar-record audience score of 96%.

Amy Poehler is the lead voice in the cast, which includes Maya Hawke, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Ayo Edebiri, Lilimar, Grace Lu, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Diane Lane, Kyle MacLachlan, Paul Walter Hauser and Yvette Nicole Brown.

The sequel introduces a new group of emotions that join Riley's journey as she enters her teenage years. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust are unsure how to feel about the arrival of Anxiety, Envy, Ennui and Embarrassment at "head"-quarters.
