Theo Walcott makes controversial claim about Robin van Persie and Bukayo Saka at Arsenal

Arsenal have had some fine players over the years and have some quality operators in the current squad and Theo Walcott has made a bold claim about two Gunners heroes.

Walcott, of course, spent 12 years with Arsenal and encountered some of the best players to ever step foot in The Emirates during that time.

The former England man played with the likes ofRobin van Persie, Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez, and more in a glittering career.

As we know, former players a normally loyal to the players they shared a pitch and dressing room with.

And when it came to comparing a former teammate with current Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, Walcott made a controversial decision.

Theo Walcott picks Robin van Persie over Bukayo Saka

Ranking Arsenal legends in a task for the Daily Mail, Walcott was in no mood to mess about when it came to Van Persie.

Walcott went with ‘RVP’ from the off, putting him above the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil, and even Robert Pires.

When it got to Saka, there was a brief pause from Walcott, before he again went with the Dutchman, insisting there was only going to be one man who knocked Van Persie off his perch.

That one man ended up being Thierry Henry, who came out on top of Walcott’s list in the end, beating off Dennis Bergkamp in the final selection call.

Bukayo Saka can get himself to Van Persie levels

It’s pretty obvious that Theo Walcott has a soft spot for Robin van Persie and it shows how highly-rated he is here.

However, Bukayo Saka is on his way to being as good and potentially better and in terms of longevity, Saka has the chance to be one of the all-time greats at Arsenal.

Van Persie was brilliant for a period but really, he got his big win at Manchester United.

Saka, then, will be hoping to deliver the title and more to Arsenal and from there, he’ll probably find himself on top of this list eventually.
