Peter Pellegrini, who took office as president of Slovakia, is going to visit Ukraine in the near future, according to Tlačová agentúra Slovenskej republiky.

"I'm planning to visit all neighboring countries, including Ukraine," he said.

At the same time, Pellegrini clarified that he would first pay a visit to Czechia.

He also emphasized the importance of Slovakia's membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance.

What is known about Pellegrini

Peter Pellegrini is an ally of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who is known for his pro-Russian stance on Ukraine. Accordingly, Pellegrini takes a similar position and has already called on Ukraine to hold peace talks with Russia.

In early May, he stated that European politicians needed to intensify diplomacy to end the war in Ukraine, and he suggested Bratislava as a negotiating platform.
