Ole Miss landed the nation’s 20th-ranked signing class in the 2024 cycle. Lane Kiffin and Co., have welcomed in a few for spring ball, but have added six more signees for the first summer session. Let’s take a look at the newest members of the Rebel roster for the highly-anticipated 2024 season.
Katrevrick Banks, CB – Homer (La.)
Banks uses his 10.8 100-meter dash speed to excel in the openfield on either side of the ball. Offensively, he’s a weapon as a receiver. Defensively, he’s an extremely active free safety. He finished his career at Homer with over 100 total tackles, six interceptions and a sack. He also snagged 26 receptions for 455 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Kamron Beavers, DL – Bay Springs (Miss.)
The Bay Springs (Miss.) recruit is a perfect fit for the middle of the defense. Pete Golding will shift Ole Miss from a 4-2-5 to a base 3-4 at times and Beavers is someone who can be a run plugger and a difference maker at the point of attack.
He is a dynamic prospect who is not your typical 300+ pound defensive lineman. The four-star flashes potential to be someone who could possibly trim down and play some off the edge. But he is truly dominant lined up over the football.
Pat Broomfield, CB – Clarksdale (Miss.)
As a junior, Broomfield finished with over 60 tackles, three interceptions, one pass break up and one defensive touchdown. The three-star signee has the length Ole Miss likes at cornerback and has plenty of frame to fill out as he will now get in the weightroom with Nick Savage.
Kavion Broussard, OT – Zachary (La.)
“Kavion Broussard looked the part as an underclassman, but at 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds was an enforcer at left tackle for Zachary,” a scout said. “Broussard was sound in pass protection and moved well at his towering size. He’s taken a huge step forward in his positional development, as well as his ability to use his hands and his length to his advantage.
“Broussard not only has traits like height and wingspan, he’s playing nasty football at a premium position,” a scout said. “He’s a stock-up 2024 tackle, in this analyst’s opinion.”
William Echoles, DL – Houston (Miss.)
Echoles committed last summer and was named Mr. Football in Mississippi’s 4A classification after a dominant senior season. He showcased his skill set in last weekend’s MS/AL All-Star Game as well. Defensive line coach Randall Joyner and Golding tag-teamed this recruitment. The 6-foot-3, 300 pound prospect loves what both have planned for him. On3 tabbed him as an instant impact freshman for the 2024 season.
John Wayne Oliver, IOL – Christ Presbyterian Academy (Tenn.)
CPA and Oliver finished the year 13-1 and were winners of 12-straight after a week two loss. The 6-foot-5, 280 pound prospect is a mountain of a lineman who plays with a mean streak at the line of scrimmage.
“I’ve always loved Mike Tyson,” Oliver said. “I compare my mentality to his and mimic him how he prepares for a fight and how I prepare for a game.”
