'It truly is wild'... Cowboys expert shares his anger about Dak Prescott's situation on social media

The Dallas Cowboys are lingering on a Dak Prescott extension and the front office has taken overwhelming backlash for their decision-making.

Jerry Jones has ruffled the feathers of the media during the offseason because of his approach to key player contracts.

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, all need/want new deals heading into 2024 but not one of them has been tied up to an extension.

The Dallas Cowboys have taken a backseat in the offseason whilst other franchises get down to business.

CeeDee Lamb takes action in the offseason as he looks to force a new deal out of the front office

CeeDee Lamb has been adamant about an extension and has withdrawn from the franchise’s offseason program to leverage a new deal.

The 25-year-old had received over$100,000 worth of offseason fines because of his absence at mandatory minicamp.

Fellow wide receiver Justin Jefferson signed a four-year extension with the Minnesota Vikings, seeing him earn up to $35 million APY.

Therefore, Lamb wants a piece of the pie and the market has become more expensive the longer the Cowboys delayed the deal.

The Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles tied down their WR1s, Amon-Ra St.Brown and A.J. Brown respectively, to a new deal. Both franchises acknowledged that Jefferson was about to raise the bar and jumped in front of the deal.

Ultimately, the Dallas Cowboys did not and will now pay the price if they are to extend Lamb.

Dak Prescott has been patient in the offseason and has been present at all team activities

Their contract philosophy has been a carbon copy of Dak Prescott; the waiting game is seeing the market drive up in price.

The Jacksonville Jaguars handed their franchise signal-caller Trevor Lawrence a new $55 million APY deal.

Prescott knows that he is a better quarterback than Lawrence and will expect a higher pay grade than his counterpart.

The 30-year-old holds all the leverage because of the contract he had signed three years ago, alongside the Cowboys’ waiting game.

Cowboys expert shares his disappointment with fans about Jerry Jones’ delayed approach to several contracts

Dallas Cowboys expert RJ Ochoa took to X and voiced his frustration with the ordeal: “I’m all for Dak Prescott (and any player) getting as much money as he (and they) possibly can. Get the bag.

“But from a team-building and roster construction standpoint… it truly is wild how the Cowboys butchered this process. Again.”

Ochoa is angered by the logic behind the front office’s mindset and is exhausted by the recurring contract approach.

Built within the small print of Dak Prescott’s 2021 deal are the no-trade and no-tag clauses – handing him the leverage.

Furthermore, the Cowboys have a $55.4 million cap hit associated with their signal-caller and have paid the price in free agency.

If Prescott plays out his final contract, he will be an unrestricted free agent in 2025 and the market will pay him accordingly.

Despite being transparent that money is not a factor, the 2023 MVP runner-up has all the motivation to become the highest-paid QB with the leverage he boasts.
