The 2024 season didn’t go how Auburn wanted it to on the diamond, but they’re hoping to change that next season. On Monday, Auburn landed a transfer commitment from a very highly touted player, getting the commitment from former ECU outfielder Bristol Carter.
Carter officially entered the NCAA transfer portal 11 days ago on June 6.
During the 2024 season, Carter hit .346 with two home runs and 31 RBI as a freshman at ECU. He played in 56 games with 46 starts, primarily playing left field. He profiles more as a center fielder, and spent some time there during the season as well.
Carter was named to the All-AAC Freshman Team and has earned Second Team Freshman All-American honors from Perfect Game.
In addition to his two home runs, Carter had seven doubles and a triple. He struck out 23 times at the plate, walking 12 times with six hit by pitches. He stole four bases on the year, though he has dynamic speed that makes him an immediate threat on the basepaths.
Even with just two home runs on the season as a freshman, Carter does have some pop in his swing and could add some power to his game as he continues to develop.
Auburn finished in last place in the SEC this season. The Tigers were 27-26 overall and 8-22 during SEC play. As a team, the Tigers hit .276 on the season with 81 home runs and 94 doubles. Just one player reached double digit in steals, that being Cooper Weiss who had 27 in 35 attempts. Carter, if given the opportunity, has a chance to reach that mark steadily.
Carter will become the fifth transfer to land at Auburn during this cycle out of the portal. He joins pitchers Samuel Dutton (LSU) and Ryan Hetzler (California Baptist), in addition to catcher Lucas Steele (Samford) and Eric Snow (USF).
