Missouri 5-star QB commit Matt Zollers is ready for the Elite 11 Finals: ‘It’s definitely an honor’

Matt Zollers

Royersford (Penn.) Spring-Ford five-star quarterback Matt Zollersfirst learned about the Elite 11 Finals after attending a regional event for the competition last year. He is now just days away from competing in it against some of the top signal-callers in the country.

Zollers is excited to be in California and showcase his talents under center. Being a part of the “prestigious” Elite 11 Finals is significant to the Missouri commit, who mentioned that “80%-90%” of the top quarterbacks selected in the NFL Draft participated in the event.

“It means a lot to be on this list,” Zollers told On3. “It’s definitely an honor and I’m going to take advantage of it. I’m really going to focus on taking in everything they’re teaching me, go out, compete and try to win it.”

Zollers hopes to finish as the top quarterback, but also wants to have fun and get to know the other participants. The No. 1 player in Pennsylvania is looking forward to learning and growing as a signal-caller over the competition’s three days.

“The biggest takeaway I’m going to have from this is all the knowledge that’s going to be out there from the different quarterback trainers around the country. I want to listen to everything they say and take away all that I can to help me get better.”

The elite signal-caller is ready to head west and compete in the Elite 11 Finals.

“The farthest I’ve ever been west is Missouri, so it’s going to be cool to go out to California, and then it’s going to be awesome to compete with the top guys and show what I’ve got,” said Zollers, the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 On300.

Zollers is trying to recruit ‘the best class in Missouri history’

While in the Golden State, Zollers wants to represent Missouri. The Tigers already have a top-20 recruiting class and the five-star believes this group could end up being “the best class in Missouri history.”

Zollers, who is returning to Columbia from June 21-23 for his official visit, is confident that he and his fellow commits will play an important role in the future of Missouri football. The 6-foot-3.5, 203-pound recruit plans to spend time with some “top targets” during his visit, including Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star wide receiver Donovan Olugbode, Cocoa (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggsand Saint Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College four-star wide receiver Corey Simms.

“I text these guys every couple of days,” Zollers said. “I recruit them pretty hard. We talk about different things, such as how they fit into the offense. They don’t play the same way, they are different receivers and they all can fit into the offense together. I tell them what we see them doing, what they can do and how they can fit in the offense. They know we want them.”

The Tigers won 11 games and the Cotton Bowl last year under head coach Eliah Drinkwitz. Zollers is confident in the program’s future under him.

“Coach Drinkwitz is a high energy dude,” Zollers said. “He is what I really want in a coach and he is an offensive guy, so he knows what he is doing with an offense and a quarterback. He is a great guy with energy that has been able to turn the program around. Before he got there, Missouri was a decent team. But now, I think they’re heading in the right direction of being a very good team that can compete with the best. I have a lot of confidence in coach Drinkwitz.”
