Michigan State lands 2025 in-state tight end Jayden Savoury

Michigan State remained hot on the recruiting trail when it landed three-star tight end Jayden Savoury, of Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s High School, on Monday. Savoury (6-6, 225) has been a high-priority target for Spartan tight ends coach Brian Wozniak since Wozniak offered Savoury in January.

Savoury is still new to football. He only started playing the sport in 2023, his junior year of high school. Wozniak has had Savoury at the top of his board since his arrival in East Lansing. Wozniak has made several trips to St. Mary’s, including a stop for Savoury’s basketball game this past winter.

“(Wozniak) says he likes how big I am,” Savoury previously told SpartanMag. “My size and my height, and how athletic I am. He says he loves two-sport athletes and always tries to recruit them the most because of how athletic they are and what they can bring to the table. He says two-sport athletes really integrate well into football players. You use a lot of that other stuff from the other sports in football. You pick up on things from those other sports.

“He likes how I move at my height and size. I’m not stiff and he said he likes my speed a lot. He said I can block. I can attach or detach from the line and go out like a receiver and run some routes.”

Michigan State has also prioritized Savoury’s St. Mary’s teammates Bryson Williamsand Antonio Johnson for the 2025 class. St. Mary’s linebacker Charles White already committed to the Spartans earlier this spring.

Savoury took an official visit to East Lansing the weekend of May 31, after making several trips to campus this spring. Savoury was scheduled to visit Wisconsin (June 7), Kansas (June 14) and Purdue (June 21), but he shut things down following his Michigan State visit. Penn State, Duke, BYU, Northwestern and Rutgers, among others, also offered.

Savoury is the No. 894 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the No. 51 tight end and the No. 18 recruit from Michigan in his class.

Wozniak and Michigan State are likely done at the tight end position for the class of 2025, as they already hold a commitment from Wisconsin tight end Emmett Bork. Savoury and Bork give Wozniak a solid duo, with in-state tight ends Lincoln Keyesand Jack Janda, among other targets, on deck as top priorities for the 2026 class.

Michigan State now holds nine commitments in its 2025 class. California quarterback Leo Hannan, California offensive lineman Drew Nichols, Ohio wide receiver Braylon Collier, Texas receiver Charles Taplin and in-state running back Jace Clarizio join Savoury and Bork on the offensive side of the ball. In-state linebackers Charles White and DiMari Malone round out the current 2025 class on defense.
