LAKE COUNTY, Fla. \- Shane Coleman Dana, 40, was found guilty of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon by a jury in the courtroom of Judge Mark Yerman last Thursday.
Dana received a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in the Florida Department of Corrections under the state's 10/20/Life law.
"If you think you can possess a gun as a felon, and then go and shoot someone, you're in for a rude awakening," said Bill Gladson, Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney. "Our law enforcement partners will arrest you and we will make sure you face the harshest consequences possible. Twenty-five years sounds like the perfect time for reflection."

The conviction stems from an incident on June 21, 2019, where the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to a 9-1-1 call about a shooting. The victim, who identified Dana as the perpetrator, reported being shot in the leg by Dana upon returning to Dana's house after a brief absence.
The unprovoked attack, as described by the victim, was corroborated by Dana's home surveillance system.
A witness at the scene described Dana as paranoid and easily angered. After refusing to exit his home initially, Dana eventually surrendered to law enforcement.
Assistant State Attorney Steven Miller successfully prosecuted the case.
