MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace couldn't help but compare former President Donald Trump's continuous brags about his cognitive exams to a sober driver bragging about acing a DUI.

Over the weekend, Trump told an audience that he continues to crush tests tracking his mental acuity (albeit he forgot the doctor's name who worked for years as his physician and ultimately became a Republican Congressman).

Wallace called out the Rupert Murdoch-owned news outlets like the Wall Street Journal, New York Post and Fox networks, all of which have selected edited footage and even interviews with lawmakers to craft a narrative that President Joe Biden is the candidate in decline.

"I don't love covering this, but Trump is forcing the issue," Wallace said. "Let me just say this about the test he's taking. It's like a sober person taking the DUI test, right? He shouldn't be bragging about taking the screen for dementia unless he's aware of something that he's trying to keep from his supporters. What do we make of this? What do we think of this? How do we cover this?"

Wallace went on to say that for years, she interviewed Trump voters after each act that violated democratic norms.

"I think we knew in early 2017 that there's nothing — nothing — that can make the hardened base that loves Trump not love him anymore," Wallace explained. "But Trump knows that isn't enough, right? That's why Trump keeps taking the MOCA test from behind podiums. Trump sees something in his own data that being a convicted felon, that his own diminished performance, he's not — those clips interspersed from '16 to '24, he is a different candidate in '24 than he was in '16, and he seems to know it."

Former Republican strategist Tim Miller agreed, saying that it can be exhausting for those who continue to fight for honesty and facts to continue in the face of a twisted media empire.

"In this clip, the important thing to discuss here is two points: You mentioned the New York Post twice. It's the Murdochs that are doing this. We have to say it. It's the Murdochs who are advancing this stuff," said Miller.

He noted that it was only a few years ago that they had washed their hands of Trump.

"Now they're doing Florida man's propaganda because they want to have access," he explained.
