Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star cornerback Jahmari DeLoatch has committed to Cincinnati, he announced on Monday evening.
He chose the Bearcats while also holding offers from the likes of Michigan, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Duke and others.
DeLoatch is the No. 354 overall prospect and No. 32 corner in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 player in Virginia.
“I love the culture and how they go about their guys and program,” DeLoatch told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “A city I feel comfortable in along with coaches and teammates I think will serve me well. I believe their business degree will open doors for me and help me succeed in life outside of football also.”
Bearcats land first 4-star commitment this cycle
The addition of DeLoatch is a big one for Scott Satterfield and the Cincy staff. The 5-foot-9.5, 165-pounder is the first blue-chipper to pledge to the Bearcats this cycle and commitment No. 14 overall.
Cincinnati’s class ranks No. 40 in the nation and No. 7 in the Big 12, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Last cycle, the Bearcats finished outside the top 50 overall.
Greer (S.C.) Riverside three-star tight end Mikkel Skinner is a top-30 recruit at the position and a top-10 player in the Palmetto State. He committed earlier this month on June 9.
Other top commits in the class include Covington (Ga.) Newton three-star running back Zion Johnson, Rabun Gap (Ga.) Nacoochee three-star cornerback Patrick Williams, Cincinnati Withrow three-star EDGE Erik Gayle, Newburgh (Ind.) Castle three-star defensive lineman Benny Patterson and Lincolnton (Ga.) Lincoln County three-star linebacker CJ Crite.
