Nintendo Direct Announced For June 18

Nintendo has finally revealed that its next Nintendo Direct presentation will take place on Tuesday at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET.

Last month, Nintendo confirmed they would hold a Nintendo Direct in June, continuing the company’s tradition of June announcements. Nintendo has held announcement events nearly every June since the Switch was released, whether via a Nintendo Direct or an E3 presentation. With the Nintendo Switch’s successor on the horizon, Nintendo has made sure to temper fan expectations for the upcoming Direct, stating that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.

With Sony holding their State of Play presentation last month and Xbox holding their Xbox Games Showcase earlier this month, the third gaming pillar is ready to share its gaming announcements. The Nintendo Direct will be 40 minutes of announcements for already-known titles and never-before-seen games. The Direct will focus on games coming out in the second half of 2024, though some titles beyond 2024 will also be shown.

Nintendo has no released titles for the second half of 2024, though some titles have been revealed for the Switch coming in 2025. These games include the new Pokemon title, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, and the recently announced Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. Fan speculation is always rampant leading up to a Nintendo Direct. Two games that are rumored for nearly every Nintendo Direct are Metroid Prime 4, which was first announced in 2017 and has not been seen since, and Hollow Knight: Silksong. Perhaps this June direct is where these two games will be seen.

Nintendo fans can see the Direct tomorrow via Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
