'Next few days': Fabrizio Romano delivers new update as Leeds United player edges towards exit

Fabrizio Romano says the “next few days” will be crucial in sorting the future of one Leeds United player this summer, after a Premier League side opened talks to sign him.

Leeds are expected to make a number of sales in the coming weeks and months in order to comply with Financial Fairplay, amid reports The 49ers have inherited a large credit card bill from Andrea Radrizzani.

A number of players have already been linked with the exit door, including Archie Gray and Willy Gnonto. Another of course, is The Championship’s Player of the Season in the form of Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutchman starred last term, having a hand in 31 goals and that is obviously going to attract attention from Premier League clubs. Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Bournemouth have been linked.

Newcastle are said to have spoken about Summerville within the walls at St. James’ Park while Crystal Palace could make a move if The Eagles sell either Eberechi Eze or Michael Olise in the coming months.

Fabrizio Romano delivers new update on Crysencio Summerville

On Monday, Romano reported that Brighton have now opened talks to sign Summerville having sorted out their managerial position, but also insisting that Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested in him.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Romano added more detail in the race to sign Summerville and said that the next few days could prove crucial in determining the winger’s future and where he goes when leaving.

“I have a sense they hope to get close to a deal done around £35m/40m, so that could be the price. The next few days will be important to see how this contest will go, the timing of this deal is really important.”

Is Brighton the right move for Summerville this summer?

With eight Premier League clubs listed and more likely to be keeping an eye on the Dutchman this summer, is Brighton the right move for Summerville when the Seagulls already boast Kaoru Mitoma?

Probably not, unless the Japan star departs. Liverpool and Chelsea’s competition out wide may prove too difficult to crack, but the likes of West Ham, Fulham, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace could more fruitful.

Summerville has a huge decision to make this summer with his time at Leeds pretty much a common known fact, it is coming to an end. To get the best out of him, he needs to play regular football next term.
