Arsenal now ‘the favourite’ to sign £50m Premier League 'monster' who'd partner Declan Rice

Arsenal are reportedly the new leaders in the race to sign one of the most exciting midfielders in the Premier League.

The Gunners have made landing a partner for the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard a priority this summer, with Youssouf Fofana just one such name who has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks.

With Bruno Guimaraes another top midfielder believed to be on Arsenal’s radar, it’s clear that the north London side are ready to spend big on the right player this summer in order to bridge the gap between themselves and Manchester City in next season’s title race.

And Arsenal are now in pole position for a highly-rated Premier League midfielder.

Arsenal ahead of FC Barcelona in chase for Everton’s Amadou Onana

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are leading the race to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, with FC Barcelona also interested in signing the Belgian international this summer.

Previously hailed as ‘monster’ by analysis Ray Chohan, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Onana for quite some time, with Manchester United also believed to be interested in signing the £50m-rated Everton star.

A target for Chelsea, as well, interest in Onana is high this summer as Everton look to sell one of their key players before June 30th in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules if they wish to avoid a third successive points deduction.

And news that Arsenal are now the favourites for Onana is encouraging for the Gunners, who could now be set to move for the 22-year-old talent who might just be the missing piece in the midfield for Mikel Arteta.

Onana alongside Rice could be a cheat code for Arsenal

Rice showed this season that his future in the Arsenal midfield is as a left-sided no. 8, with the England international enjoying his most productive year ever under Arteta in the more advanced role.

And in signing a defensive-minded player like Onana to operate alongside Rice and Odegaard, Arsenal could have a midfield that might be impossible to stop, with the balance essentially perfect amongst the trio.

With the Gunners now the favourite to land Onana, moves could soon be made to bring the midfielder to north London, where the Belgian international could become the next star at the Emirates Stadium under Arteta.
