Josh Mulgrew's message from former Premier League attacker after Celtic academy news

Celtic’s transfer business has been the topic of much debate ever since the double-winning season ended last month.

With Brendan Rodgers looking to bolster the squad for the upcoming defence of the title and the next Champions League group stage campaign, expectations are high that the club will get their transfer work done correctly and improve on last summer’s effort.

However, we discussed yesterday how Celtic are building for the future after they captured the signatures of nine academy starlets when they signed their first professional deals at Paradise.

And one of those youngsters received a message from a former Premier League star as he looks forward to building a career at the club.

Robert Snodgrass’ message to young Celtic starlet

Joshua Mulgrew was one of the nine youngsters to pledge their immediate futures to the club and as the youngster took to Instagram to share the news, he received a message from former West Ham, Norwich City, Leeds United and Scotland star, Robert Snodgrass.

The youngster, who is the son of former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew, was also congratulated by former Blackburn Rovers midfielder, Bradley Dack and current Celtic kids Hayden Borland, Daniel Cummings and, obviously, the legendary Charlie Mulgrew himself.

Young Mulgrew joined the Celtic Academy as a 14-year-old and will hope to follow in his dad’s footsteps and progress his Celtic career into the senior first-team.

Of course, expectations must be tempered as it is still early days in all of the nine youngsters’ Parkhead careers.

But with Celtic appointing former defender, Darren O’Dea, as the Player Pathway Manager earlier this year, there now seems to be a positive shift in thinking by the Hoops hierarchy to help develop and grow their own players to, hopefully, one day run out at Paradise as an established first team player.
