King's Lynn maintained their positive momentum with a fine all-round showing to defeat Oxford 50-40 at the Adrian Flux Arena.
All seven of the PSH Environmental Stars riders won at least one race in a true team effort, and it was a dream debut for new signing Jan Kvech, who scored nine points.
Kvech won two races, including victories over former World No.3 Maciej Janowski as well as Spires skipper Chris Harris, and hugely endeared himself to the Stars fans with his overall display.
There were strong performances throughout for the hosts, and whilst Janowski was superb for the visitors as he piled up 16 points, he lacked consistent support.
Team boss Rob Lyon said: “It was a great, solid performance, the same as last time against Sheffield really, and we’re getting a bit of momentum which is nice.
“We’ve got to keep that going now. We’ve got a lot of home meetings coming up, and they’re going to be important for us to make a challenge for the top four.
“I wouldn’t want to pick anyone out in particular because it was a full team performance from one to seven, but it was good to see Jan have a good debut, and also for Anders to get back to some early-season form around here.
“I’m pleased for all of the boys, proud of them, so we move on to the next one and see where we go from there.”
The Stars did suffer a tough start to the meeting when Rohan Tungate and Charles Wright combined for a 5-1 in the opening race, but reserves Patryk Wojdylo and Anders Rowe quickly redressed the balance in the next.
Kvech announced his arrival in UK Speedway with a win over Janowski in Heat 3 as skipper Nicolai Klindt ran a rare last place, before Lynn took the lead in a competitive Heat 4 with the Rising Stars to the fore.
Rowe took the win ahead of Ashton Boughen, who was adjudged to be just within track limits on the first bend, whilst Benjamin Basso retrieved third place from Harris on the last bend.
Lynn then took advantage of some misfortune for the visitors as Tungate, who had broken down just as he crossed the line in Heat 1, then shed a chain on his way to the start for Heat 5, and Stars took a 4-2 with Erik Riss coming in to split Klindt and Kvech.
Niels-Kristian Iversen and Richard Lawson both bundled their way past a fast-starting Riss on the back straight to share Heat 6, before Lewis Kerr hit trouble for the visitors prior to Heat 7, which saw Basso race to a win over Janowski with Wojdylo third for a 4-2 to extend the lead to six points.
Stars added a further pair of 4-2s across the next two races, first with a sharp start from Iversen to defeat Wright in Heat 8 with Rowe third, and then with another super showing from Kvech who swooped around Harris off turn two in Heat 9, whilst Klindt dived inside Riss for third place.
Facing a ten-point deficit, Oxford’s big guns began making starts with Janowski and Tungate taking the next two races, but the Stars battled their way to 3-3s in both, including a close call for Wojdylo to hold off Wright after re-passing him in Heat 11.
Spires boss Peter Schroeck made his move in Heat 12 with a tactical substitute outing for Janowski who duly made a fast start to get the better of Kvech, but this time it was Rowe coming from the back for third place, switching inside Riss at the end of the second lap.
And any doubt over match or aggregate points was resolved emphatically in the Stars’ favour with a super Heat 13 5-1 from Lawson and Basso, who worked overtime to keep Harris behind him for much of the race.
Janowski won the final two heats as the Spires collected a couple of consolation 4-2s, but the Stars had all three league points in the bag by that stage.
Next up for the Stars is a trip to Birmingham on Monday, followed up by their KO Cup semi-final second leg at Sheffield on June 27.
