WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We continue our State of The U series this morning, and today’s topic is the biggest question facing the team. It’s probably not what you think.

There’s also our continuing analysis of the top 50 roster players, giving insight onto this team’s talent level and depth. Check out our closer look at No. 12 Simeon Barrow.

In recruiting?

We catch up with Waukee (Iowa) four-star 2026 tight end Evan Jacobson off his weekend Miami visit, so don’t miss what he’s saying.

Another visitor, for Sunday’s 7 on 7 on campus, was Miami (Fla.) Northwestern four-star cornerback J’Vari Flowers. Now he has an offer from the hometown program, so where do the Canes fit in? He shares that.

Also on hand was Syracuse 2024 commit Demetres Samuel, out of Palm Bay (Fla.) Heritage. He’s building a bond with Chevis Jackson and updates his status off the visit.

Plus Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star athlete Derrek Cooper, a former Georgia commit, was down in Coral Gables on Sunday for an unofficial visit with the Miami Hurricanes. Don’t miss his take.

Another update: Although Western (Fla.) 2027 cornerback Jaylyn Jones may just be finishing his freshman year of high school, that has not stopped a handful of Power Four programs from offering the talented defensive back. The latest to do so? His hometown Miami Hurricanes. Get Jones’ thoughts.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

On paper vs actual with Florida game looming … Posted by liponet

So on paper we’re looking good and are favored (not by much) to beat Florida. CMC has really taken us to a new heights, between back to back recruiting classes and now with acquisitions from this last portal. Sky’s the limit, right? 10 win season easy, right? So here’s what elite talent still can’t overcome, and why behind all this hope and excitement, there’s still a lot of anxiety:

Fumbles
Stupid and dumbass penalties
sloppy play
Poor play calling and adjustments
poor tackling (yes super talent can definitely help here)
game clock management (yeah, sorry, had to list this one last)

So here’s to hoping that, along with the superior recruiting we’ve been witnessing, the COACHING improves. If this happens, I do believe we can be ACC champs and beyond! Fingers crossed!
