Everton striker Neal Maupay offers Kylian Mbappe a hilarious solution to his injury problem

Neal Maupay is renowned for being something of a controversial figure within English football, and when Everton signed him, that was meant to be a good thing.

Much like Richarlison, it was expected that to see him play for other teams would inspire frustration and anger, but to have him on your side would prove profitable and hilarious.

Although the former quality has not quite been abundant since his move from Brighton and Hove Albion, he has not relented when seeking to amuse football fans.

His latest comment might just be his best yet.

Neal Maupay offers mask solution to Kylian Mbappe

Taking to X, the 27-year-old would poke fun at Kylian Mbappe’s second-half incident, which saw his face collide with the body of an Austrian player as his side ran out narrow winners.

Left in a heap on the floor, France’s main man saw his nose gushing with blood, covering his face.

Having since revealed that his nose is broken, which will by no means end his tournament, we can expect to see the new Real Madrid man feature with a mask for the next month, similar to ones that Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane have sported in the past.

The 25-year-old kickstarted the exchange, asking: ‘Any ideas for masks’.

Maupay would quote the tweet with a picture of his own face with two drawn-on strings, inferring that a cardboard mask would be enough to see him through the Euros.

Now, we await France’s next match with the Netherlands to see if he comes through on that suggestion, just weeks after Maupay made another hilarious tweet about Sean Dyche.

Everton’s Neal Maupay continues to be a menace

This is not the first time that Maupay has made a funny jibe at current events, and nor will it be the last.

The Frenchman is relentless on social media, and a refreshing twist on the modern-day footballer who is often so media trained to pump out boring responses.

He bucks the trend with his humour and unapologetic attitude, and this isn’t the first joke he has made at French football’s expense.

After all, before their European Championship squad was even announced, he put himself into contention with a funny tweet aimed towards manager Didier Deschamps which read: ‘I’ve cleared my schedule to sit waiting by the phone lads.’

The phone did not ring, thus freeing up Maupay’s next few months for a summer of frustrating opposition fans. After all, it’s what he does best.
