Turkish press claim Manchester United want just £16.9m to sell player Erik ten Hag used 30 times last season

This summer for Manchester United will see a few big departures, now a price tag has been set for one player.

For Erik ten Hag, this summer must be all about raising the level in the Manchester United squad technically and physically after a season in which both were poor.

This has already seen interest in new central defenders who are capable of playing in a manner that Ten Hag will want to implement.

This is the case for both full-back spots as well, with Diogo Dalot really the only reliable full-back who can play the style of football Ten Hag wants and isn’t injury-prone as in Luke Shaw‘s case.

Because of this and the fact he has a year on his contract, United could be set to sell, now they’ve named the price tag amid real interest.

Galatasaray remain interested in Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Ever since the summer began, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been a target for Galatasaray and the Turkish club even offered £8.5m earlier this month, which was refused by United, a figure much too low for someone who played 30 times for the club last season.

Now, according to a report from Turkish outlet Sabah, Wan-Bissaka is the top choice for Galatasaray to strengthen at right-back this summer, a position their coach Okan Buruk has confirmed to be of interest.

The stumbling block for them comes with United demanding €20m or £16.9m, a figure which is far from unreasonable considering he cost £50m and is still just a good player.

Wan-Bissaka isn’t a player United should be desperate to sell given he can still do a job across both full-back positions, but still, Sabah reports that Galatasaray expect United’s price expectations to drop throughout the transfer window.

How could United replace Wan-Bissaka?

In terms of United replacing Wan-Bissaka, whoever arrives is unlikely to be anything more than a second choice behind Dalot who has established himself to be one of the team’s best players.

So it’s likely that the rumours around Jeremie Frimpong for example will dissipate, although they likely should’ve anyway considering he’s more a right winger than a right-back.

One interesting option for United could be Fiorentina’s emerging Italian right back, Michael Kayode. The 19-year-old enjoyed a strong campaign in which he started 22 games and played over 2,000 minutes.

Kayode, much like Dalot, excels on and off the ball which could make him an ideal option to sign as Dalot’s back-up/rotational player.
