Steidten in talks with two Premier League clubs about brilliant deals

Technical director Tim Steidten is in talks with two Premier League clubs about brilliant deals for West Ham it has emerged.

West Ham did an uncharacteristically early deal before the transfer window had even opened last week.

The Hammers signed exciting Brazilian talent Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for around £25m.

That was just the start, though, with technical director Tim Steidten looking to bring in another seven signings for new West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui this summer.

Now the transfer window is officially open for domestic deals.

And it seems the German recruitment chief is wasting little time making moves.

Because Steidten is in talks with two Premier League clubs about brilliant deals for West Ham.

West Ham are on the hunt for two centre-backs and a striker as part of their plans for another seven deals.

Hammers boss Lopetegui has decided he wants to sell Kurt Zouma while Nayef Aguerd is also up for sale.

West Ham have been linked with a move for Max Kilman for some time. And those links have been given new relevance since the Hammers appointed his former manager.

Steidten in talks with two Premier League clubs about deals

At the weekend Hammers News exclusively revealed that David Sullivan, West Ham’s majority owner, is willing to push the boat out to sign Wolves captain Kilman for his new head coach.

Now transfer reporters Fabrizio Romano and Dharmesh Sheth have both claimed West Ham have made contact with Wolves about signing Kilman.

“Understand West Ham are showing concrete interest in Max Kilman, centre back who’s highly rated by Julen Lopetegui,” Romano said.

“Not an easy deal as Wolves want to keep him but West Ham are now exploring this option, contacts started.”

Sky Sports reporter Sheth confirmed Steidten is formally approaching Wolves about a deal but issued a similar warning that it won’t be easy.

“West Ham United expected to formally approach Wolves over signing defender Max Kilman,” Sheth said.

“Wolves don’t want to sell – and under no pressure to.

“Captain Kilman signed 5 year contract last summer. West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui managed Kilman at Wolves.”

It’s not the only contact between Steidten and a Premier League club this week, though.

Because he is also reportedly in talks over another deal.

And it will not only bag West Ham around £6m towards their transfer kitty but free up £125k per week in wages.

Saints want West Ham flop Ings back

Because newly-promoted Southampton have now officially contacted West Ham to sign Danny Ings.

That’s according to The Mail, who claim West Ham flop Ings could rejoin the Saints like Adam Lallana.

“Mail Sport understands Southampton are willing to offer up to £6m for Ings but the former England international wants to assess all options open to him this summer,” the report states.

Offloading Ings for a semi-decent fee would be among the best business West Ham do this summer.

He has joined a long list of strikers who have failed to cut it at West Ham following his £15m move from Aston Villa in January last year.

Some of that is down to the system Ings was played in and the fact David Moyes did not give him a consistent run of games.

But when he was given chances, all too often he failed to take them.

Ings has scored just four goals in 52 appearances for the Hammers.

One thing for Steidten to consider is that selling Ings to Southampton will see West Ham lose yet another player who ticks the homegrown box.

But if Kilman arrives then it will balance out.
