Students at a Bishop’s Stortford school are engaged in some healthy rivalry as they excitedly mull over the results in the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024 football championships.
Hockerill Anglo-European College has 11 nations represented by students and a school spokeswoman said although there has been much post-match analysis by staff and pupils, the biggest buzz is in the boarding houses.
There is also a Euros themed football tournament taking place next week at the Dunmow Road school, organised by sixth form student heads of equipe (houses), for years 7-10. This will also include teams from some non-qualifying nations.
The Euros has 24 nations taking part, with England, France and hosts Germany among the favourites to take the trophy.
