Wake up with a 'glass-like' glow with doctor's overnight skincare tip

Forget expensive skincare products and cosmetic surgeries. A naturopathic doctor claims there’s an easy way to wake up with ‘glass-like’ skin without burning a hole in your pocket.

Skincare seems overwhelming at times. But not being mindful of some of the common beauty practices you indulge in does more harm than good. Skin experts specifically warn against three common mistakes causing premature aging that you mustn’t ignore.

Doctor’s tip for ‘glass-like’ skin overnight

Naturopathic doctor, Janine Bowring, who swears by the benefits of castor oil claims that its “ultra-hydrating” property can make your skin glow like glass.

To wake up with “glass-like” skin, apply a thin layer of castor oil on a clean face at bedtime and wash it off in the morning.

Ensure to use a high-quality castor oil, which is cold-pressed, and stored in a glass bottle. It should be Hexane-free and shouldn’t smell foul. The doctor says: “It’s a bit sticky, but it absorbs into your skin to wake up with that glass-like skin.”

Castor oil is a thick, odorless oil extracted from the seeds of the castor plant. In addition to beauty purposes, it’s also used for its medicinal value. However, it isn’t considered an edible oil.

Other beauty benefits of castor oil

Castor oil has more than one benefit, says Dr. Janine, as she explains other purposes you can use it for. She says the active component in castor oil is Ricinoleic Acid, which is known to be an antimicrobial. “So it kills off bad bugs, and bacteria and has anti-inflammatory properties,” she explains.

In addition to making your skin glow, castor oil can treat dandruff. The doctor suggests gently massaging the dry scalp with it at bedtime and washing it off in the morning.

She claims the same helps “smooth wrinkles.” before adding that “one of the aspects of the castor oil because it’s thicker than other oils, is it locks the hydration in the skin.”

It is also believed to heal cracked heels, corns, and calluses by repairing the skin with ultra-hydration.
