Pop Star Justin Timberlake Released After Arrest On DWI Charges In New York

Pop star Justin Timberlake, 43, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, Long Island, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI). According to the Sag Harbor Police Department, Timberlake was pulled over after leaving a restaurant in the area and exhibited signs of intoxication.

Law enforcement sources report that Timberlake appeared glassy-eyed and smelled of alcohol. He was subsequently asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed.

The singer was taken into custody at the Sag Harbor Police Station and later arraigned on charges of DWI, running a stop sign, and failure to keep in his lane.

Timberlake was released without bail and is being represented by criminal defense attorney Ed Burke, Jr. His next court date is scheduled for July 26th.

Sag Harbor Police Department said, "On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition."

"Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance," they said.

This is not Timberlake's first run-in with the law. In 2007, he was cited for reckless driving in Los Angeles. However, this is the first time he has been arrested for DWI.

A representative for Timberlake has not yet commented on the arrest.

The incident has sparked significant media attention, given Timberlake's prominent status in the entertainment industry. Fans and the public are awaiting further details as the legal process unfolds.
