Arsenal are now really 'scared' of one key issue about Napoli's Victor Osimhen

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Victor Osimhen this summer, but the Gunners are ‘scared’ of one key issue.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are hard at work behind the scenes at the Emirates. After finishing second again, Arsenal need to strengthen their squad to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title next season.

Many people feel that a new striker should be a priority this summer. Arsenal tried to sign Benjamin Sesko but he rejected a move to North London and decided to stay at RB Leipzig instead.

Since then, Osimhen has been linked with a move to Arsenal, but a big issue regarding the Nigerian has reportedly ‘scared’ the Gunners.

One Victor Osimhen issue has ‘scared’ Arsenal

Osimhen has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time.

The Napoli star is one of the best strikers in the world. He played a massive part in helping the Partenopei win their first Scudetto in over three decades in the 2022/23 season.

Osimhen, in many people’s eyes, had a fairly underwhelming 2023/24 campaign, but he still ended the season with 17 goals in all competitions.

Reports have claimed that Arsenal will make an attempt to sign Osimhen this summer, but now, Football Transfers claim that the Gunners are ‘scared’ about one thing – his injury issues.

The outlet claims that since Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, he has missed 65 games in all competitions because of 15 different injuries.

Six of those issues came in the 2023/24 season, which sidelined him for two months.

The report claims ‘Arsenal, Chelsea and Europe’s biggest clubs’ are all scared of signing Osimhen this summer because of his injury history.

The one striker Arsenal should sign instead of Osimhen

Arsenal have suffered enough with Gabriel Jesus’ injury issues over the last two seasons. The last thing they need is another striker who gets regularly injured.

Osimhen is definitely a tempting option because of his quality, but his injury history makes it a massive risk to sign him this summer.

So, we think Arsenal should look elsewhere, and there is one excellent alternative – Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists last season and his profile on Transfermarkt shows he has never missed a game due to an injury or suspension.

That makes him so much more attractive than Osimhen.

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Gyokeres, but he could prove to be too expensive – his release clause is set at £86 million.
