New York Man Found Guilty For Brutal Neighbor Murder And Cover-Up

A New York man has been found guilty of murdering his neighbor and attempting to conceal the heinous crime. The case, which has captivated the local community, has now reached a somber conclusion, with the perpetrator facing significant prison time for his actions.

On the morning of June 27, 2022, a dispute erupted between 64-year-old Alva Parsons and his 29-year-old neighbor, Charles "Chuckie" Rothenburg, in Parsons' home in the town of Sandy Creek, Oswego County.

The altercation turned violent, and Parsons fatally shot Rothenburg in the neck. The bullet lodged in Rothenburg's brain, causing his untimely demise.

After killing Rothenburg, Parsons did not stop there. He proceeded to drag the victim's body into a bedroom and hid it under a pile of clothes, attempting to conceal his heinous act.

However, Parsons' attempts to cover up the crime did not end there. He also threatened an eyewitness, warning her against leaving his residence and potentially revealing the grisly truth.

The tragic incident did not go unnoticed. Someone contacted the authorities, requesting a welfare check on Rothenburg.

Law enforcement officials launched a search that lasted for two days before receiving a tip that the victim might be in Parsons' home. Upon searching the property, they discovered Rothenburg's body, leading to Parsons' arrest.

Prosecutors presented a compelling case against Parsons, using various forms of evidence, including photographs, text messages from the defendant's phone, DNA evidence, and testimony from police officers and eyewitnesses.

The jury, after a six-day trial, found Parsons guilty on several charges, including second-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and first-degree coercion.

Alva Parsons now faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison for his heinous crimes. The sentencing is scheduled to take place on August 2, 2024.
