Travis Kelce on the possibility of a three-peat: ‘You can always bet on the Chiefs’

Travis Kelce believes the Kansas City Chiefs will make NFL history in 2024 by winning a third consecutive Super Bowl. While speaking to reporters during the team’s mandatory minicamp last week, Kelce was asked about experts doubting the Chiefs being able to accomplish the three-peat since it hasn’t been done before.

“You can always bet on the Chiefs baby,” Kelce said. The Chiefs have the tools to win it all again with Kelce returning as well as quarterback Patrick Mahomes and defensive lineman Chris Jones. However, no team has won three consecutive Super Bowls since the game was launched in 1967. The interesting thing about that is the Green Bay Packers won the first two Super Bowls and won the NFL Championship game before the first Super Bowl. That makes them the last team to win three straight NFL titles.

But Kelce isn’t the only Chiefs player to predict another Super Bowl win. Mahomes believes Kansas City will be Super Bowl-bound at the end of the season. “Next year in New Orleans, we’re gonna do it again,” Mahomes said on the Impaulsive with Logan Paul podcast, per CBS Sports. “I’m putting it on the table. We’re gonna do it again. I’m telling you now.”

Travis Kelce and Kansas City Chiefs projected to win 11 games

Kelce and Mahomes are confident the Chiefs can get the job done, but how realistic are Kansas City’s chances to win it all again? Cynthia Frelund of the NFL Network thinks it’s possible as she projects the Chiefs will have 10.9 wins in 2024, the best total for any AFC team.

“My models indicate the Chiefs are on their way to winning their ninth straight AFC West division title. Despite two tough games to start the season (hosting the Ravens and Bengals), the schedule is favorable for the reigning Super Bowl Champs, who are not slated to be underdogs in my models in any of their 17 contests,” Frelund wrote. “Next Gen Stats show that Kansas City’s passing offense averaged just 6.5 air yards per attempt in 2023, the second-lowest mark in the NFL.

“The addition of receivers Hollywood Brown (free agency) and Xavier Worthy (Round 1 of the draft) should help change things. The Chiefs also benefit from the fact that their hardest four-game stretch of the season comes late in the slate (Weeks 14-17), which means they have a lot of time to establish their offensive identity before facing the likes of the Chargers, Browns, Texans and Steelers in December.”
