On Tuesday evening, Miami landed its second commitment of the summer as Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep three-star offensive tackle Demetrius Campbell announced his pledge to the Hurricanes.

“I think it was just the connection I built with the coaches, and they really made it feel like home for me,” Campbell told CaneSport. “I know I’ll be able to develop into a good player there. They have the resources and the right people to develop me into a pro player.”

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff beat out the likes of Ole Miss, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, and Arkansas for Campbell, who took an official visit to Coral Gables in June.

After that trip to Miami, Campbell knew he wanted to be a Hurricane.

“I really knew I wanted to commit to Miami after my official visit,” Campbell said.

Since receiving an offer from Cristobal and the Hurricanes, the 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive lineman has built a strong relationship with several staff members who believe he has a ton of potential.

“Just the coaching plans for me, and they know what I’m capable of,” Campbell explained when asked what the Hurricanes message to him was.

Campbell is now the eighth commit in the Hurricanes 2025 class, joining Tampa (Fla.) Armwood four-star running back Girard Pringle, Osceola (Fla.) four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez, Leo (Ind.) four-star 2025 tight end Brock Schott, Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star quarterback Luke Nickel, Birmingham (Ala.) Parker three-star cornerback Timothy Merritt, Cincinnati (Ohio) Lakota West four-star 2025 tight end Luka Gilbert, and Jacksonville (Fla.) Duncan U. Fletcher three-star interior offensive lineman Takaylen Muex.

“I think in the near future we’re going to have a ring,” Campbell said. “I think we have a real good class with this group coming up, and I think coach Cristobal and his staff are building something great.
