Mock Draft Update: Rob Dillingham’s stock sliding?

The 2024 NBA Draft is now a little over a week away (June 26-27). With that comes plenty of updated mock projections as we head down the home stretch. Kentucky’s pair of expected lottery picks — Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham — will be in the Green Room in Brooklyn, NY as they wait to hear their names called by Commissioner Adam Silver.

But where those two might actually land has fluctuated — both good and bad.

With Sheppard, he continues to cement himself as a likely top-five selection. Of the seven mock drafts from major outlets that I have posted below (all published within the last week), six of them have him going among the top four (the only one that doesn’t has him landing at No. 6). The most likely destination for Sheppard, according to the media evaluators, is the Houston Rockets with the 3rd overall pick. CBS Sports even has him going as high as No. 2 to the Washington Wizards.

It seems unlikely that Sheppard could sneak his way into the No. 1 overall pick, but his buzz keeps on growing as we inch closer to the draft. A fall outside of the top 10 would be a massive shock at this point.

As for Dillingham, his stock has actually seen an odd decline in recent weeks. Whether that be due to an ankle injury that has prevented him from participating in the pre-draft process, the influence of Klutch, or NBA team’s worries about his size and strength, is yet to be seen. But this downward trend is notable.

Once a good bet to land inside the top 10, Dillingham’s stock now has him falling outside of that range. None of the seven mocks below have the shifty guard getting picked better than No. 10. Yahoo Sports even projects Dillingham will drop outside of the lottery entirely to No. 16. Three of the mocks have him going to the Chicago Bulls — a team in need of a backcourt punch — at No. 11.

If we compare this to some of our mock draft round-ups from May (links here and here), Dillingham was a projected Top 10 pick by ESPN, Bleacher Report, CBS Sports, The Ringer, SB Nation, USA TODAY, and Yahoo Sports. All seven have dropped him to the No. 10 pick in the month since then.

You can view all seven updated mocks below. Another Kentucky player, Justin Edwards, appears to be firmly in the mix for a second-round choice while fellow Wildcat Antonio Reeves remains just on the edge of getting drafted.
