Baseball: Ohtani hits 20th HR, 7-run 9th lifts Dodgers past Rockies

Shohei Ohtani hit his 20th home run of the season before his Los Angeles Dodgers put up seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat the Colorado Rockies 11-9 on Tuesday.

Ohtani's solo blast to center in the sixth off left-hander Austin Gomber cut the Rockies' lead to 7-3 while tying him with the Atlanta Braves' Marcell Ozuna for the most homers in the National League.

The 2023 American League home run leader with 44 for the Los Angeles Angels has reached 20 for four seasons in a row. Ohtani finished the night 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

In the top of the ninth, with the count at 2-2, one strike away from the loss, Teoscar Hernandez launched a go-ahead three-run homer to right-center at Coors Field after Jason Heyward's one-out, pinch-hit grand slam pulled the Dodgers within a run.

Ohtani, who also had an RBI groundout in the third inning, singled in the ninth between Heyward's grand slam and Hernandez's three-run home run.

The Rockies blew a five-run, ninth-inning lead, with relievers Tyler Kinley and Victor Vodnik surrendering a total of seven runs.
