The eye-watering amount Che Adams will earn if he leaves Southampton to take Saudi Arabia offer

Southampton striker Che Adams has at least four offers on the table as he looks to decide his next move following the expiration of his contract.

It was widely assumed that Che Adams was guaranteed to leave Southampton when his current contract ends at the end of this month, but an update from the club has implied he could still stay.

When Southampton published their retained list following their promotion to the Premier League, it was confirmed that Stuart Armstrong would move on once his contract ends this summer but that the club are still in discussions with fellow out of contract pair Adams and Alex McCarthy.

The fact that the Saints will be returning to the Premier League has no doubt been a factor as Adams has had an offer on the table for most of last season, but talks have also taken place between the player and both Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

Recently it emerged that Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab are keen to hijack any potential deal and it has now been revealed the contract offer they have presented to try and entice Adams to swap England for the Middle East.

Che Adams offered huge pay rise to leave Southampton

According to Capology, Adams is currently on £30k-a-week at Southampton, making him one of the highest earners at the club.

Given the battle for his signature, as well as the Saints returning to the Premier League, it is likely that figure is set to increase regardless of where he signs a deal.

However, the offer from Al-Shabab will make all other offers pale into insignificance in financial terms.

According to Give Me Sport, the Saudi club have offered Adams a three-year deal that would see him earn £7 million a year.

For context, on the striker’s current salary he earns just under £1.6 million a year.

Whether Adams would be keen on swapping the Premier League for the Saudi Pro League at this stage of his career remains to be seen but an opportunity to more than quadruple his wage could prove difficult to turn down.

Al-Shabab finished eighth last season, with the Al-Hilal side consisting of the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Aleksandar Mitrovic and the lesser spotted Neymar winning the title.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr finish second, but the big names are fewer and further between the lower down the table you look in Saudi’s top flight.

If Adams does make the move to Al-Shabab he will be joining up with former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, now 36, and former Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.

Former Wolves defender Romain Saiss and Habib Diallo – formerly of Strasbourg – are less glamorous recognisable names, but aside from that the squad mostly consists of Saudi and Brazilian players.

It would be a surprise to see Adams make the move in his peak years, but numerous higher calibre players have shocked fans by making the same move in recent years.
