Declan Rice finds one word to describe Kyle Walker after playing with him at Euro 2024

Declan Rice has summed up Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker with just one word.

The Arsenal midfielder is currently one of the many Premier League stars currently in the England squad for the 2024 European Championship.

In their first group game of the tournament, Gareth Southgate’s side picked up a 1-0 win against Serbia, which saw Walker complete the full 90 minutes alongside his fellow City teammates John Stones and Phil Foden.

Ahead of Thursday’s match against Denmark, Rice took the time to share his verdict on one of the three City representatives in the England squad.

Declan Rice drops one-word verdict on Kyle Walker

When asked in a recent video shared on the official England TikTok channel to describe each of his international teammates in just one word, Rice used the term “strong” to sum up Walker.

In an England shirt, Walker and Rice have played in 37 games together. Then at club level, the midfielder has faced off against the City captain on 11 occasions.

Walker has a reputation for being particularly tough to play against

The 34-year-old, who Ashley Young said last month is one of the best full-backs in Premier League history, has racked up 395 top-flight appearances throughout his career, lifting six league titles along the way.

One prime example of Walker showing how much of a tough opponent he can be for attacking players is during City’s 4-0 win over Real Madrid back in 2023.

Specifically, after seeing the Englishman keep Vinicius Junior quiet in this particular game, Thierry Henry described Walker as a “beast” on CBS Sports (via Goal) as a result of the physical attributes he has that make him such a top defender.

With Rice now summing up the City veteran by highlighting how strong he is, this should make it even more clear just how difficult it must be to play against Walker and get the better of him in defensive duels.
