Michigan football is weeks into its summer training cycle. The program posted a video with some clips of training this week.
Former Michigan basketball star Trey Burke, the 2013 national player of the year, stopped by the U-M offices Monday to visit with new head coach Dusty Mayand Co.
Burke is one of the Wolverines’ best all-time players, having led the team to the 2013 national title game before losing to Louisville, which has since vacated its title.
He said at a 2013 team reunion in February 2023 that he’d be “honored to have his jersey retired or honored. Michigan has five jerseys in the rafters currently, one “retired” and four others “honored.” Russell’s No. 33 can’t be worn by Michigan players, and his banner is joined by No. 22 Bill Buntin, No. 35 Phil Hubbard, No. 41 Glen Rice and No. 45 Rudy Tomjanovich.
“That would mean the world,” Burke said. “It would mean the world, honestly.
“That’s something you dream about as a kid. Growing up, I loved college basketball, I watched college basketball. I was one of those kids that was running around with a little rubber basketball, dreaming of making big shots. Just to have something to leave your legacy on something like that at such a great university like Michigan, that would be great for me. I would love that.”
Michigan received huge news Tuesday, with 2026 Cocoa (Fla.) High four-star quarterback Brady Hart pledging to the Wolverines. Hart is the No. 92 overall player in his class, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
Michigan football has added the Jordan 3 cleats to its collection.
