Witnesses sought after man ‘beaten with metal pole’ in New Ash Green

A suspect has been arrested after a driver was reportedly beaten with a metal pole in a violent assault.

It happened after the victim asked a man to move out of the way so he could access a car parking space off Centre Road in New Ash Green.

Once the car was parked the suspect reportedly opened the car door and attacked the victim, who suffered multiple injuries to his head and arm.

The assault continued outside of the vehicle and the man was struck several times before he was able to disarm his attacker and drive away from the scene.

A 40-year-old man from Dunton Green has since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

He is currently bailed with conditions to return to a police station on August 1.

Police believe there may have been several other people in the car park at the time of the incident, which happened just before 7pm on May 7.

It is believed they may have seen the assault taking place.
