‘Top player’: Conor Gallagher praises £65m Euro 2024 player who Chelsea reportedly want

Conor Gallagher has just praised a player who’s reportedly in Chelsea’s sights during this summer window.

England midfielder Conor Gallagher, 24, will be playing both with and against individuals at Euro 2024 linked to his club side Chelsea in the transfer rumour mill.

Unfortunately, Gallagher’s own future is currently up in the air and a big talking point. The Sun claims that Chelsea will listen to offers for £50m-rated star Gallagher, but Atletico Madrid are set to fail with a loan bid.

Conor Gallagher hails £65m Chelsea target

Gallagher has shared that he’s close friends in the England camp with Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who had an excellent start to the Euro 2024 tournament with his commanding performance on Sunday against Serbia.

It’s no real surprise the duo are close because they spent their academy days together at Chelsea, plus they’ve crossed paths in first-team football as well.

Gallagher said via England X account: “I’ve been spending a lot of time with Marc [Guehi] having competitions day to day…

“Me and Marc go way back. We both joined Chelsea’s academy right at the start, so we would have been seven or eight years old. We played of England together growing up. We went to Swansea together and Crystal Palace.

“He’s a great friend of mine. He’s a top player as well.”

Marc Guehi transfer links

Gallagher’s praise comes amid speculation that Guehi, 23, is a current Chelsea target.

Football.London recently claimed that Chelsea have Palace centre-back Guehi on their radar this summer.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported this week that Premier League outfit Palace would demand at least £65m if they were to sell Guehi in this current window.

The ball-playing centre-half is certainly good enough to get in the Chelsea side if he considers returning to his former club, but the defence shouldn’t be priority position right now for the club’s recruitment chiefs.
