Left-hander Dominic Niman will start Game Three of the Men’s College World Series for Kentucky on Wednesday against Florida.

Niman has made 15 starts and 16 total appearances for the Cats this season. He boasts an 8-4 record with a 6.24 ERA in 70 2/3 innings.

The left-hander’s last start came in Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament opener against Western Michigan, in which he allowed five earned runs in four innings on the mound. He’s allowed at least four earned runs in five of his last seven appearances.

Niman started against the Gators earlier this season on May 11. Things did not go his way, as he allowed seven hits and six earned runs in just four innings of action. Florida won that game 10-1.

After a stellar 14 1/3 inning stretch against Alabama and Auburn this season in which he allowed just one earned run with a complete game shutout of the Tide, the back half of the season has not been great. Niman has pitched to a 15.17 ERA in his final 17.1 innings pitched this season.

Mingione is also making a batting lineup change, swapping Devin Burkes and Ryan Nicholson:

  • LF Ryan Waldschmidt (.335)
  • 2B Émilien Pitre (.298)
  • 1B Ryan Nicholson (.312)
  • DH Nick Lopez (.341)
  • 3B Mitch Daly (.299)
  • C Devin Burkes (.243)
  • CF Nolan McCarthy (.291)
  • RF James McCoy (.220)
  • SS Grant Smith (.238)

Kentucky and Florida will get underway in the Elimination Game at 10:00 a.m. CT/11:00 a.m. CT.
