Jay Johnson has landed another big name out of the NCAA transfer portal, continuing the success he’s had this offseason. Dayton infielder/catcher Eddie Yamin announced his commitment on Wednesday, transferring into the program from the Dayton Flyers. A nice pickup for the Tigers heading into the 2025 season.

“After long consideration with my family, I have decided my new home will be LSU. Grateful and excited for this opportunity,” Yamin said via X. “Geaux Tigers”

Yamin just wrapped up his sophomore season, being draft-eligible this time next year. He played in 53 games in 2024 with Dayton, hitting .342 with 13 home runs, 54 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.037. Some work will need to be done from a strikeout perspective, going down 59 times while walking on just 20 occasions.

While Yamin does have some experience catching, he spent the later stages of the 2023 season playing first base. LSU will have some time to figure out his defensive position but for now, you have to imagine Johnson is just happy to have another bat in his program.

Coming up a bit short following the national championship last year, LSU is hoping to reestablish itself as one of the best programs in the SEC. Yamin will certainly help their case in a big way.

LSU pitcher MJ Seo enters NCAA transfer portal

LSU right-handed pitcher MJ Seo has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Seo parts ways with the LSU program following just one lone season with the Tigers — not making any appearances on the mound during his true freshman season where he redshirted.

The Carrollton, Texas native played high school baseball at Hebron High School where he was ranked the No. 160 overall prospect and the No. 40 shortstop in the nation. Also ranked the No. 16 player in the state of Texas and the No. 2 shortstop in the Lone Star State for the 2023 class.

Seo was voted to the 2023 Dallas/Fort Worth All-Area First Team in high school, and his brother Minjae Seo is currently committed to Florida for 2025’s recruiting class.
