Multiple clubs are already trying to sign 'exceptional' Newcastle attacker this summer - journalist

Newcastle United have had to deal with key players being linked away this summer.

Up until the January transfer window, the prospect of losing big name individuals was not really something Newcastle had to consider.

Such was the upward trajectory upon which the club embarked following the PIF takeover in October 2021, most of the stories naturally centred around potential big name incomings.

However, with the club working under FFP limitations, there were suggestions some of their prized assets may need to be sold in order to fund further investment into Eddie Howe’s team.

That has continued this summer.

Indeed, Bruno Guimaraes has repeatedly been linked away amid a £100m release clause in his contract.

Alexander Isak is another who has been tipped for a move, albeit he has said he wants to stay at St James’ Park.

More recently, another name has emerged.

Yankuba Minteh impressed on loan at Feyenoord last season was even hailed as “excellent” by some of his teammates. The winger has also even been backed to hit “world class” levels within the next two years.

The Gambian has not played a game for Newcastle and was reportedly in line to be assessed by Howe in pre-season.

Minteh, however, has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs amid a reluctant acceptance at Newcastle that he could be sold.

Now, more insight has emerged.

Multiple clubs are now trying to sign “exceptional” Newcastle player this summer

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg on X (formerly Twitter), the 19-year-old has already attracted multiple enquiries this summer.

Borussia Dortmund are thought to be keen, with new manager Nuri Sahin reportedly a big fan.

Yankuba Minteh is still not sure about his future

Despite all the speculation about his future, it seems Minteh has not yet decided on what will happen next season.

Last month, the player’s agent said: “If he goes to Newcastle, he will do his best. If he goes on loan somewhere, he will do his best as well. He just wants to play football at the end of the day.

“He doesn’t think too much about it. It’s Newcastle who decide where he’s going to play, but he will definitely do his best. He will try to convince the manager he has a role there. It’s going to be an exciting summer and he’s just going to see what’s going to happen.

“I told him he did what he could with his loan deal so he could not do more and to just mentally recharge for what’s going to happen next season. No matter where you put him, he will try to perform. It’s Newcastle and the manager who will decide if it’s good enough or not good enough. He cannot do anything but play his football.”
