Alabama hasn’t been mentioned much in the recruitment of Sachse (Texas) five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett — but that could change following a mid-week official visit.

The 6-foot-1.5, 175-pounder is interested in the new staff under Kalen DeBoer and wanted to get a better look in Tuscaloosa. Lockett arrived on Monday and logged a multi-day OV — his fourth official this month.

“Coach (Kalen) DeBoer’s air-raid offense at Washington and how he can translate it to Alabama,” Lockett said of his interest in Bama to On3’s Steve Wiltfong earlier this month. “Along with me and Keelon Russell having a conversation about us potentially teaming up.

“I also wanted to give them a chance at it as well.”

Alabama looking to join four others at the top for Lockett

Last month at the On3 Elite Series, Lockett told On3 that it was a “four-way tie” in his recruitment between LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State and Texas. He’s now taken OVs to all four schools except Texas — which is set for this weekend. Bama is looking to insert itself in the mix, too.

“It’s really going to be hard saying ‘no’ to all of them,” Lockett said last month. “Because it’s really a race now, because every school now is even. It’s going to be hard to say ‘no’ to three schools, but you know you’ve got to.”

Committing in August is the goal for Lockett — who also said that official visits will play a major role in his eventual decision. Each program continues to give him plenty to think about ahead of his senior season.

“Oh man, it’s definitely going to play a part how my officials go, definitely,” Lockett said. “And how my family feels about it. I’m not going to make any rational decisions just based on how I feel at the moment. I’m going to give it a few days, wait and see if I feel the same way tomorrow, I’m going to talk to my parents and my family and see what I should do. If everything goes right, the school will be the school I pick.”

Alabama is currently the hottest team on the recruiting trail and now has the No. 4 class in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Just one listed receiver is currently in the class in Millville (N.J.) three-star Lotzeir Brooks.

Lockett is the No. 18 overall prospect and No. 3 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 6 player in Texas.
